Place is set up nicely. View from living room is the best! Had a great stay. 1 outdoor/shower fixed or board it up & stickers in yard sprayed. Other than that was great !

We reserved and paid for a front row beach house. We like to sit on the porch to watch and listen to the waves. We like to wake up to the sound of the ocean. We were so excited! Weeks after we made and paid for our reservation, we were told that there was a lot that was just starting construction right in front of the house we had reserved, but that shouldn't obstruct the view. They have to start with the foundation and stilts before they really start building and framing. We were reassured that it was quiet and that that they weren't actively doing active construction. We tried looking for another property just in case they started working on it again, but all the front row houses were already taken by this point. When we arrived we found a nearly finished huge house completely blocking (75%) our view to the ocean. I talked to the new home's owner, he said they started construction 8 months ago. The property and property management company has been charging for and advertising this house deceitfully as a front row for 8 months! They did try to make small concessions by refunding us $67 on a 5 night stay. Only after I expressed frustration to the management company, did the homeowner say they would discount one night of our stay (which I never ended up actually getting). That doesn't make deceit and misrepresentation right or ok... FOR 8 MONTHS worth of guests!! We woke up to saws, nail guns and generators at 7am. Another thing that isn't disclosed is that this home is RIGHT on the main road that runs down the length of the island, so we also heard cars & loud music through the night, then paving and big construction vehicles from early morning through 5:30pm. I know they may not have been aware that the city was also going to lay asphalt on the driveway blocking us in. They also couldn't have known that there would be barking dogs next door either. I am still hoping to hear from Joel, the property manager to make things right. I'm happy to update this review then.

It was wonderful!

This was a great house right on the beach! Much better than the pictures on the listing. We had 8 people and were very comfortable. There is a 1/2 bath and 2 showers downstairs that are not mentioned in the listing and were a great help for 8 people! There are also toys, chairs and umbrellas in the storage room to use at the beach. The beach is a very short walk from the house. The only complaints are that the A/C cannot be turned below 72 and that made it pretty warm for sleeping. Also the chairs op the balcony are the same height as the railing, so it completely blocks your view of the water. I would recommend some bar height chairs so you can enjoy the view! Would absolutely stay here again.

The property was in a good location for us, away from the crowds. It is a bit of a drive to go pick up food,but we didn't mind that.overall, we enjoyed our stay.

We took our youngest 6 kids here for a week and had plenty of space to relax and enjoy. Great value for beach front property and Gulf view. Master bed soft and comfy. The twin beds were more firm, but the kids didn't complain. Love the open kitchen/living space. Extra bath and showers down stairs were a great bonus.

I could certainly appreciate the decor in this cute little house. However for the $200+ a night, the house was certainly not worth the price tag. The tub in the very tiny bathroom had a ring of mold around it. The shower curtain was disgusting and the shower curtain continuously kept coming down and was very frustrating. Pots and pans musts have come from a yard sale. This house is only good for shorts stays as it does not have a washer & dryer. We had several days of rainy weather that came straight off the gulf. As a result we had to use a lot of towels to wipe up the hardwood floors at the only door off the gulf side porch. We had no way of drying all these towels. $200 a night I expect some high end finishes. Master closet was small & 1/2 full of dry cleaning.

House was nice. The master bed was not very soft for me. Other than that it was fantastic.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay-while we were prepared for traffic noise in the master, small single bathroom, removed tv in the loft and walk across the dunes to the beach, we had a great stay and are considering making the Barnacle our destination each summer. We have a family of seven and while the two bedrooms plus loft are cozy accommodations for us, we were very comfortable and had plenty of space. If your group plans on tv time/movie night, there is only one tv, but it does have all the apps to choose from...seating is a little limited, but you can make it work:smallish couch, one rocking chair, and pulling over a kitchen chair or floor seating.
The balconies were excellent for star gazing at night!

I love the Barnacle .Me and my husband spent our 1st wedding anniversary here and we have been married 26 years now .I have always rented this .So cute and has everything you need .

This was the perfect location for family gathering. Direct Walk straight to the beach, grassy area by the house for yard games, green area downstairs to barbecue/picnic/hang out, bathroom and outside showers to get the sand off, isolated enough to avoid the crowds but easy access to local stores. Very nice house, lots of room, excellent value.

Great house. Comfortable. Beautiful views of the beach/ocean. Had everything we needed--easy access to the beach, about 1 minute walk. The price is on the higher side, in my opinion, though. Towards the end of our stay (3 nights) ants started to show up, which was an issue with previous renters. Also, it's right next to fairly busy road. One bedroom on the roadside gets lots of road noise.

Cute house w/ excellent access to the beach, but there is a severe ant infestation, which another reviewer also experienced prior to our stay. However, Wolverton has no clue there was a problem. You cannot drop a crumb or else the ants will come and swarm the kitchen or table. One of the bedrooms also had them everywhere and in the bed sheets and pillow cases. An exterminator came out and sprayed while we were there, but it did not help at all. If they can get the problem fixed, I would recommend this house, otherwise I would not stay here. The one bedroom is completely uninhabitable, so if you need the room this house will not work.

Dissapointed in the ant infestation. There favorite locations were the beds, couches, kitchen counters, and dining room table. Entered the first night and saw lots of dead ones in the kitchen. Wiped the counters and got busy with the beach. Next day a few live ones showed up. Not too bad. The following day, it was impossible to sleep in ones of the beds as they were crawling all over it. Sent emails and left voicemail messages. No response. Next day was checkout. Told the guy at Wolverton about our experience. He acknowledged he read the email but it was too late to do anything. He did not seem surprised by the issue. It appeared you were aware of the problem and hoped the spray you used would take care of it before we arrived. Didnt work. It's frustrating because everything about the house was great. If you would have solved this problem before we had arrived correctly I would have given the rental 5 stars.

This is our 4th year to rent from Wolverton and we've not been disappointed yet! The barnacle is the cutest beach house!! Gorgeous views of the beach, nice and comfortable for our group, and the hammock is the best place to read =) Would absolutely stay here again!

The Barnacle is a lovely beach cottage with excellent mattresses in all rooms. Each room is thoughtfully supplied and nicely decorated. The internet is strong and theres cable tv. The cottage is beach front with a short stroll to the beach. Quiet neighborhood. Only slight criticism is that the cottage is directly off the main highway so theres some road noise but at night theres very little traffic. You cant go wrong renting this cottage.

We really enjoyed the home. Everything about it was great. Plenty of room, very clean, cute, right on the beach.

We've stayed in the barnacle several times over the years and have always had a good experience and enjoyed our stay. We love the fully enclosed outdoor showers (so easy with small kids) and the upstairs loft. Our only complaints would be that this house could really use a washer and dryer and a little larger cable package on tv would also be helpful. Overall, another great year staying at the Barnacle in Galveston!

All the conveniences and comforts of home. The bed in the master is awesome. First row view of the ocean not too bad either. Easy check-in and check out through the rental agency. Only drawbacks were limited cell service (typical of west end life), but they were mitigated by the availability of wifi at the property. Only small issues were that the garbage disposal tripped and required reset under sink, and the toilet backed up but was easily cleared with the plunger there. Make sure to pull the storm door ALL the way closed! Plenty of beach equipment (chairs, umbrellas, toys, etc.)

We took 3 of grandchildren with us for a 6 day 5 night stay. They enjoyed it so much. We were close enough to the beach that I could watch them from the porch of the house or the hammock below. We spent most of the time at the beach house and visiting their mother in the hospital in Houston. We had stayed at the property before and knew what it was like. We love it! It has everything needed for a wonderful and relaxing stay. My only suggestion would be to have washer and dryer on site. IT WILL NOT KEEP US FROM RENTING THIS SITE AGAIN. Please thank owners for such a great offering!

The Barnacle Beach house is a special rustic home away from home on the beach. It has a very special barn like charm all its own. The beds slept nicely, the amenities were good with great water pressure in the bathroom. Loved the downstairs outside showers for beach clean up. We had a wonderful time.

We have used many Wolverton rentals in the past 20+yrs of visiting Galveston. the Barnacle was one of our favorites - good location,ample space for our 4 grandchildren ages 4 to 14. Everyone loved it. Only recommendation - washer and dryer - I'd offer to buy the place!!!(lol)

it was great as we had family come in the smallness wasn't a problem..the only down side was the mattersses in the downstairs bedroom(twin beds)were awful//we added pads to sleep..otherwise it was great //next year we want a larger one directly on beach and hopefully no seaweed

The view was good, easy access to the beach. However, there was a definite ant problem, which was an annoyance.

I brought my daughter and grandchildren to the beach for the weekend. We had a wonderful time and the beach house was great! The pictures don't do this lovely house justice. Being on the beach was a treat for all of us. The folks at Wolverton were very attentive and professional. No issues or disappointments. Will definitely use them again.

over all very good.Diahwasher did not drain.The fridge did not cool at all forced me to make many trips to the store.The yard was not cut.The rental company did get it taken care of.

The house and furnishings were in very bad condition, old and falling apart. Ants were everywhere even in beds,had to spray constantly. Inside microwave was rusty and stove was very unlevel and two burners barely worked. Coffee table was so poorly made we just moved it rather than take a chance on it breaking. The tv was maybe 13 inches and with the rain all week we used it. Overall all, I would rent from the property mgmt, just check out the house personally next time.

Great home little futher back from beach, air conditioning not so well in bedrooms and appliances little overdated. Overall nice home, very clean. Wolverton is a great rental company.

The property was beach-front, easy access to the beach, great view. It was clean, liked that it came with linens and towels. Some of the dishes that were put away were dirty (grease sitting in a pan) but this was minor. The biggest thing that we were unhappy with was the TV. It was old and we had spotty connection. At the end of an active day at the beach, we wanted to relax and watch TV and this wasn't always available or very limited with regad to channels. Overall, we were happy with the stay and would come again but would hope better TV would be available.

My family and I needed this getaway and it was more that we expected! I can't wait for our next family getaway and hope it can be a little longer next time.

i have stayed in the barnacle several times and have always been very pleased.. However this time i was very very dissapointed!!! the bedding was distgusting and the downstairs shower was unusable, not to mention there was a decaying fish head (that i showed kiki) on the front porch!!! very displeased.. Friday night we were all forced to use towels as blankets, due to the hair, and blood covered blankets left for us to use in the house.. The realty company did bring us new bedding saturday morning, and someone also came to clean out downstairs shower... with all that being said, i was completley shocked that the realty company did not offer me a discount on my stay, nor did they even offer me a discount for future stays.... There is no exuse for the dirty linens or the disgusting shower!!!! The right thing to do would be to compensate me for something!!! If wolverton realty does not try to make ammends with this situation, I will be forced to contact the better business bureau.. I really hope you attempt to right this wrong....

We have been having a girls' getaway weekend for many years and we always go to the Barnacle right on the beach.

This house is quaint & well decorated. The loft was perfect for the kids. I was under the impression it was a little bit closer to the water. It seems that it's actually 2nd row but no house in front of it (but houses on front row diagonally from Barnacle).
There were construction workers on both sides of us; which was very annoying. Men gawking and the sound of hammers and generators. Not good relaxing on the front porch.

The house is cute and listed as beach front but actually is a second row house with no other house in front of it. Lots of things did not work properly such as the tv, dishwasher,toilet,and lights down stairs.

The location was great, and the house was cute. We had a great time and will go back. The house was not very clean though.

THIS HOME WAS LOCATED IN AN AREA WHERE DRIVING ON THE BEACH IS NOT ALLOWED - THIS WAS SO NICE FOR BOTH PARENTS AND CHILDREN! NO WASHER AND DRYER.. THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE TO HAVE - OVERALL - IT WAS AN AWESOME PLACE.. DEFINITELY WILL STAY HERE AGAIN! THANKS WOLVERTON!

It was very disappointing to have to live with no garbage pick up for a whle week.

i have a sentimental attachment to this location because i spent my first anniversary there,however i travel to jamaica bahamas colorado etc.i wasnt happy with the cleanliness of the place there was sand on the floor .window sills had bugs blankets on the twin beds appeard wouldnt stay on one channel at all.some of your plastic bowls have hole in them.The house is cute and quaint and i will want to rent it again but when a person spends this amount of money on a rental you expect it to at least be clean.i will always love this place and i hope that you all will one day appreciate the customer.i shouldnt walk in the bathroom and have to clean roaches off the bathroom sink.This is a great spot and i spent first wedding anniversary here,that was 17 years ago.Hope im able to continue for many more years renting this place.there was also lots of trash on the empty property

This house is very roomy and comfortable. Downstairs showers are great to use after coming in from the beach! Equipped with everything you could need to enjoy the beach. We will be back next year!

I have always loved the west end of Galveston. House is older but has that rustic beachy feel but well taken care of. The view and easy acess to beach can't be beat for the price. The management company was friendly and very helpful. Perfect for 6 adults and 2 kids. Two of the twin beds had pull outs under beds. The 2 outdoor showers were nice private with hot water. The second toliet was down stairs in utility room kind of creepy and weird but nice to have. The pool was a short drive or walk from house. No washer or dryer but laundry mat not far and you could trade in linens as needed they do give you plenty. I was very happy with my stay the kitchen was easy to cook in plenty of dishes and cooking supplies.
