WINDYGATE

We were staying at this house with my girlfriends for the weekend. We were planning a lot of things, but the house was so beautiful that we were hanging out on the balcony mostly all the time. During the day, we enjoyed the ocean view in a shadow on the lower balcony and admired the sunset and stars in the evening on the upper balcony.
Important information for people with sleep problems: there are shutters in the house! It's very comfortable!
I didn't understand that you have to bring soap, garbage bags, and toilet paper with you, which is weird. And we didn't have dishwasher tablets, but according to the rules, we had to wash the dishes.

Beautiful property right on the beachfront. My family loved it. Usually we visit a different vacation spot every year. But my whole family wants to return next year to this SPECIFIC property.

Great house, great location, had many items we needed! Host was helpful and suggested where to go for items and restaurants!

Windygate on far west end Galveston is a great beach getaway. It is in a great location with wonderful balconies to enjoy the beach view. It sleeps eleven people. We are ready for our fourth visit.

Two families with four teenagers and four adults. Plenty of space and plenty of bathrooms. Kitchen well stocked. Great patio off the back with great view. Location is awesome- a little east of Sea Isle, so quiet stretch of beach that is easy to access. Makes for a perfect weekend escape from Houston.

House was a fantastic spot for my family vacation. Short walk down to the beach and the house was in great condition. Everyone in the family had a great time. Would definitely stay here again.

This is the second time we have stayed at WindyGate. Both times we have stayed with family and friends, and have enjoyed the house, which is right on the gulf coast, very much. WindyGate feels like a family house, it is well equipped.

Great stay. Rental house as described on Vrbo. Well furnished kitchen. Property management very easy to work with. Would definitely rent again.

All the comforts of home that came with great views and a breeze!

The house is great, quit lovely inside and out! Very well stocked... All the basics plus many bonus items like a snowcone maker, pack n' play for babies, kid and adult games...etc The property is very clean, amazing view, private walkway to the beach. Few small local stores for food, and restaurants near by. Absolutely recommend! Very helpful staff. Keitha was very nice and professional to work with; she ensured everything was taken care of for us!

Great Quiet Location! Excellent access to the beach! BEST covered deck with plenty of chairs/side tables for everyone and even had a porch swing. I loved sitting on deck with cup of coffee watching spectacular sunrises every morning. Beach House was clean and had everything we needed to cook breakfast lunch and dinner for our stay, if you need more groceries there is even a store just down road that has everything. Excellent communication with Property Management and will stay here again!

Great location. House well supplied with kitchen necessities. Home had a nice flow with every room having a beach unobstructed view. Many many stairs, which you need to be careful using especially making the turn to the ground floor. My only beef is there were many items that needed to be fixed. Upon checking in we were advised that the swing was best to avoid. The chains were extremely rusted and needed to be replaced. My wife was very disappointed. The sink faucet in the kitchen was almost unusable and very difficult to use. Hurricane shutters in the master and upstairs middle bedroom did not work. Upstairs bedroom shutter stuck down blocking half your view. Master bedroom shutter suck in the up position allowing unobstructed views from the outside. Will stay again if everything worked.
You expect that for the money you spend to stay there. Passed this info on to the rental company during our stay . On departure the property was in the same condition. I voiced my disappointment and they offered me a free night. Hope they fix things so my family can enjoy !!!

We chose this house for our annual girl’s trip because of the amazing views & sleeping capacity.
Besides the views, the best feature of the home is a first floor enclosed foyer/stairs. This downstairs entry area is perfect for storing beach toys.
The kitchen was well stocked, but most of the items were old, scratched & very worn. With handles missing, they were useless. Several of the small appliances didn’t work & we had to ask for replacements.
Upon getting into bed the first night, we realized the twin bed & twin sleeper were not meant to be slept in. These beds were almost impossible to believe. (I believe they count the twin sleeper as a bed when they count the number of people the house sleeps. Therefore, the house actually will only sleep 8, really 5, they were small queen beds, defiantly not 10 as advertised.) That bed would not be suitable for anyone to sleep on. It’s a metal frame with a cloth over it. Also, there was no bedding provided for the sleeper sofa.
The upstairs air conditioner (It was not an ordinary vent. It's like icy, turbo vent) blew icy cold air (it had to have been in the 30/40 degrees) directly on both of these beds for more than an hour at a time & would only turn off for a few minutes then come back on again. Closing the vents helped with the cold air but that created a high-pitched whistle.
The downstairs air conditioner was not working properly, as it was always a lot warmer in the bedroom than the living/dining/kitchen area, making it hard to sleep there.
The master bath upstairs had only been partially cleaned. We found pieces of broken combs & someone’s contact lenses on the floor. When I reported this, I did not get a response. We should have at least gotten some of the cleaning fee back. We also found hairs (not ours) on the towels.
Our suggestions for improvement would be more than one bath towel per guest, kitchen cabinets deep cleaned & organization and new mattresses

This is our second year renting this quiet home. It is far away enough from the public beach access points that the beach is empty in front of the house. The downstairs entry area is perfect for storing beach toys after a long day on the sand. The views from the porch swing are wonderful. Overall it was another great week.

This was our second summer in a row to stay here and we loved it both times! The house is perfect for our two families and so close to the beach! Feels like our own slice of heaven. And the rental company is so easy to work with! Highly recommend!

The house is very nice and suited our purposes. It had everything we needed. The beach is quiet (first week of March). 20 minutes or so to town. The beds were comfortable and the house was clean. Biggest complaint is that there are toooo many things in the kitchen cupboards and cabinets. They need to pare down and give the guests cupboard space for our food.

My adult family of 7 celebrated Christmas and New Years 2021 at this great beach house. We enjoyed the sunrises, beach walks, family meals and games at the large table. The kitchen has everything needed, but cabinets need a deep cleaning and organization. While clean, it felt a bit worn (couches, bedspreads, decorations) and time for some updates.

We really enjoyed the location and size of the house. It was perfect for two families. With the location far away from downtown the beach was not crowded which was exactly what we wanted. There were a few minor issues and the management company addressed them quickly. The house could use a couple minor updates but overall it was great.

The entire vacation rental process was a breeze! Booking the house, checking in, the stay and. Checking out were pain free and easy. We really enjoyed the views and proximity to the beach. There is a. View from every living space and bedroom. Kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, dishes, cups and silverware, and we were pleasantly surprised there was a Keurig.

Getting the family together for a vacation is important to nurture relationships, and a comfortable place to come together can help in building great memories! Windygate did that for us! Having three families (two of them with youth children) come together and having three full bathrooms was a must for us and the extra 1/2 bath on the main floor was a bonus. We loved the entryway and stairs inside and that the stairs were wide and two different levels instead of one steep climb. We also loved the deck swing and ample recycled plastic chairs for all of us to enjoy.

The kitchen was stocked well with cups, mugs, dishes, bowls, plates and silverware for a larger family. However, the skillets and saucepans for cooking all had the non-stick coating mostly scratched off exposing metal which is unsafe for cooking. I had packed a few of my own favorites to use and only used my own pots and pans during our week stay.

The sunrises were spectacular and the ocean view being seen at all times whether you were inside or outside was definitely a priority in choosing Windygate. Love all the windows!

We chose a private oceanfront home so the preteens could play down by the beach in front of the home without have vehicles driving or parking near them as adults monitored from the deck until we could join them on the beach. However, we did experience traffic from both directions and had one vehicle back up and park right against the entry to the boardwalk to our rental home. That became our biggest headache to deal with and we did call and talk to the management company who agreed that this should not be happening and instructed us to call the police. It disrupts vacation time for families to have to keep calling the police. If the public knew the police presence would be there, it would not be out of control.

Overall, we had a great week reconnecting and making forever memories! We would definitely stay at Windygate again anytime we return to Galvest

A group of five friends (two couples, a single,o one dog) take an annual beach trip. This house was great. Three bedrooms, two baths upstairs, master and bathroom plus half-bath downstairs. All bedrooms open up to decks with sweeping views of the beach and ocean. Great kitchen. Short walk out the backdoor down a private path to the beach. As someone else wrote, the stairs to the house are inside. We were very grateful for that feature as we were packing up to leave during a rainstorm! The beach at this end of the island is clean and quiet. The house is dog-friendly, clean, well-maintained. This was our favorite rental in 6 years of beach trips. We'll be back.

Perfect home for a girls' trip. Every room has a great view of the beach. We enjoyed the sunrise as well as the sunset from the home, especially from the top deck. The seating on the dune walkover made for great stargazing at night. It was nice to have interior steps to the lower level as it provided an extra level of safety and was quite convenient when it rained and while loading and unloading luggage and groceries. The properties on each side of the home did not seem to be in the rental pool, and since the owners were not there during our stay, it was peacefully quiet and seemed as though we had the beach to ourselves.
The only improvements I would recommend are providing a few beach chairs, towels, and toys. Although it wasn't a great inconvenience for us since we drove, there should be toilet paper, paper towels, and hand/bar soap for the price paid (previous guests had left some paper products, but that isn't guaranteed). Finally, nix the linen service; it is expensive for the guests and the quality is lacking.
We have now found a new favorite place for our annual getaway, and we will certainly return in the future.

WE started renting vacation houses on Galveston Beach
back in the 1970's. I must say this was the most convenient and well supplied house we have had. Very comfortable and for my family. My children, Grands, and Great Grands all live near there. I have moved back to my home state of Mississippi. But I miss Texas so much. We are near many beaches here with beautiful water and white sand. But I still love Galveston best it's my home beach as far as I'm concerned. Hoping to rent this same home next year no date planned yet. All The family loved it. The porch swing did have some broken slats. But we just sat on the other end. one at a time. Will start saving money right away for this again I am 80 years old. But still love the Galveston Beach and the house WINDYGATE.

This place was great. It had an amazing view of the ocean and easy access to the beach. The Fall and Winter months are the best time to be on the island. The home was equipped with good cooking materials and a brand new gas grill. It was perfect for a family of six.

Over all pretty good . 3 Of the window shutters were stuck in the down position ,and one was in the middle of the living room over looking the water , was told this at the time we picked up the key , and said it could not be fixed for a week. The ice maker on the island did not work at all. The furniture on the decks were cheap plastic and after a couple of days got really hard to set on. Internet went out a couple of times and if it goes out so does the TV ! The beach does not get cleaned up daily by a service or waked. Other than that a very nice house and neighbor hood . Be aware that if you have AT&T you will have No service in the house and 1 bar at best outside.

9 family members stayed together for spring break and we had a great time. The house is right on the beach with a wooden walkway also great balconies on both levels. The house was very musty smelling when first entering which was a bit alarming but the smell went away once we opened a few windows. The kitchen was very well stocked. Our only suggestions for improvement would be a better grill and more than one bathroom towel per person. There were also cockroaches in the downstairs closet with the beach equipment. Other than that a fantastic house!!

Windygate is a very well equipped, comfortable home. We enjoyed beautiful beach views and comfortable furniture and beds, as well as excellent service from Wolverton management. Would recommend the West End Restaurant on the Bay in Sea Isle. The property was well described and very clean and well-maintained.
